MAGPI Participates in Mayor's Commission on Technology Broadband Summit
MAGPI was invited to participate in a City of Philadelphia Broadband one-day working session held at the Community College of Philadelphia on Tuesday June 23, 2009. As most everyone in the Research & Education Networking Community is aware, a significant portion of the federal government’s economic stimulus and recovery funding has been allocated to technology projects, specifically for Broadband utilization and access. Over the next three months, the City of Philadelphia intends to compile and submit a unified, comprehensive Broadband proposal for funding consideration in August. This one-day working session brought together thought leaders from across technology sectors in the region to generate creative uses for technology in their sectors as input for this report. Through the efforts of MAGPI and others attending this working session it is the hope that we can jointly make Philadelphia’s Broadband proposal unique among U.S. cities and demonstrate the creativity and collaboration that exists across the city.
