Videoconference Services

MAGPI's Multipoint Videoconferencing Services

MAGPI is very pleased to now offer an in-house multipoint videoconferencing solution to its members and their constituents. This service provides a large-scale deployment of tools for one-to-one, one-to-group, and group-to-group collaborations enabling the MAGPI research and education community to hold distributed working groups, classes, meetings, and events.

As of Jan 1, 2010, MAGPI is pleased to make this MCU service available at the following rates:

Members
$12/connecting site/per hour for Standard Definition
$24/connecting site/per hour for High Definition

Non-Members
$35/connecting site/per port hour for Standard Definition
$70/connecting site/per port hour for High Definition

Through this service offering, MAGPI members can conduct multi-site videoconference events. If you would like to schedule a videoconference event using MAGPI's services, please use our web-based scheduling form. After submitting your request, you will receive instructions for accessing your conference. We do require any site taking advantage of this service to coordinate testing will all remote sites involved in their event. This helps ensure the success of your project!

Please note that requests must be scheduled at least two weeks prior to an event involving 10 or fewer sites. Events involving 10-15 sites must be submitted at least three weeks before the scheduled connection date and events involving more than 15 sites must be submitted at least four weeks in advance to reserve appropriate space on the MCU. MAGPI may not be able to accommodate requests received after those deadlines.

Videoconferencing at Penn

MAGPI is pleased to make our newly renovated IP videoconferencing facility available to the Penn Community for their interactive video events. During videoconferences, sharing of video, computer presentations, and hard copy document materials can be supported, as well as video or audio recording of the actual event. Our facilities are located at 3401 Walnut Street, Suite 233A.

MAGPI's videoconference fees are based on a $200/hr fee structure. The fees cover the cost of the room rental, the use of the technology, and the technical support. Additional fees may be incurred for multisite videoconference events. Please check with our staff at the time of booking.

Your school/center may already have videoconferencing facilities/equipment and support that is freely available to you. Please be sure to check with your local support provider to see what is available to you.

Other advanced video technologies available to the Penn Community through MAGPI include Access Grid, Conference XP, High Definition Videoconferencing and DVTS (Digital Video Transport System).

Contact us at 215-573-6417 or email us at vc-request@isc.upenn.edu. We recommend contacting us at least two weeks in advance of your requested event.
